Waverley sits on the hills behind Bronte and Clovelly, rubbing up against Bondi Junction to the north. It’s a bit of a sweet spot for those who like to be close to the beach but also close to the hub of Bondi Junction, with its excellent transport links, supermarkets and retailers running the spectrum from K-Mart to Gucci.
Charing Cross village is at the heart of Waverley and is a wonderful collection of independent shops including fashionistas’ favourite Love Duck, a chic florist, Blow Dry Bar, Albion Cycles, an upmarket grocer, and indigenous art gallery Aboriginal Contemporary, among others. Bellagio Cafe is Trow Jones’ favourite place for a coffee or spot of brunch in the Waverley neighbourhood, but Ruby’s Diner gives it a good run for its money. Adding to its charm, the green open space and playing fields of Queens Park sits just behind Waverley.
Waverley Public School is the local primary school, Waverley College is a private boy’s high school and St Catherines is the local girls’ private school. Waverley is well serviced by buses and Bondi Junction train station.
